Tonos takes intellectual property rights and user safety seriously. This page explains how to report DMCA copyright violations and other forms of abuse, including unauthorized impersonation using the Service.
DMCA Safe Harbor Notice
Tonos operates in compliance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. § 512. As a service provider, we qualify for safe harbor protections for user-generated content when we act promptly to remove infringing material upon proper notification.
Tonos does not host public user-generated content in the traditional sense — voice profiles and generated drafts are private to each user. However, if you believe that the Service is being used to infringe your copyright or misappropriate your creative work, you may file a takedown notice.
In accordance with 17 U.S.C. 512(i), Tonos has adopted and reasonably implements a policy for termination of the accounts of repeat copyright infringers.
How to File a DMCA Takedown Request
Send a written DMCA notice to our designated agent at max@tonos.fyi. Your notice must include all of the following:
- Identification of the copyrighted work: A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed, or if multiple works, a representative list
- Identification of the infringing material: A description of the material you claim is infringing and information reasonably sufficient to allow us to locate it (e.g., account email, specific content)
- Your contact information: Your name, address, telephone number, and email address
- Good faith statement: A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
- Accuracy statement: A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf
- Signature: Your physical or electronic signature
Incomplete notices may not be acted upon. Filing a false DMCA notice may expose you to liability under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).
Counter-Notification
If you believe your content was removed in error, you may submit a counter-notification to max@tonos.fyi containing:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Identification of the content removed and where it appeared
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the content was removed in error
- Your name, address, phone number, and email address
- A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or Florida if you are outside the U.S.)
Upon receipt of a valid counter-notification, we may restore the removed content within 10–14 business days unless the complaining party seeks a court order.
Abuse Reporting (Non-DMCA)
If someone is using Tonos to impersonate you or generate harmful content in your name — even if no copyright is involved — you can file an abuse report. This includes reports of:
- Unauthorized impersonation of you or your organization
- Harassment or threatening messages generated using your voice
- Fraudulent outreach attributed to you without consent
- Any other use that violates our Acceptable Use Policy
To file an abuse report, email max@tonos.fyi with the subject line "Abuse Report" and include as much detail as possible: the nature of the abuse, example content if available, and how to verify your identity as the affected party.
Response Timeline
We aim to investigate and respond to all abuse reports and DMCA notices within 72 hours of receipt. Complex cases may take longer. We will notify you by email when action has been taken.
